“My commitment stems from a deep-seated passion for creating a safe, home-like environment for residents and their families, coupled with a relentless dedication to making a positive impact at Riverpoint Crest every single day.”

Deryn Smith

LNHA, MPH

Administrator

Deryn, a native of eastern North Carolina, is a highly accomplished professional who graduated from the Honors College at East Carolina University. Following her academic success, she swiftly earned a Master’s in Public Health in 2020. Deryn started her career at Riverpoint Crest in New Bern, North Carolina, as an Administrator in Training, unexpectedly finding herself amidst the challenges of the Covid pandemic. Adapting to the ever-changing landscape of Covid rules and policies, Deryn demonstrated reliability and leadership. Her commitment extended beyond the residents and their families to encompass the entire staff, aiming to provide a sense of dependability during these uncertain times. In 2021, Deryn acquired her Nursing Home Administrator License and assumed the role at Riverpoint Crest, where her professional journey began. Recognizing the uncertainties imposed by the pandemic on residents and staff, Deryn not only guided the team but also sought to offer a source of relief. Amidst her limited personal time, she dedicated herself to becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and later a Medication Aide. Deryn’s overarching goal is to establish a safe and home-like environment for residents and their families while introducing innovative ideas to shape the new culture of long-term care.

“My deep dedication stems from a profound belief in creating a compassionate and nurturing space where both staff and residents thrive, fostering a sense of belonging and well-being at Riverpoint Crest every day.”
